About ArcticStride

Stein-Erik Alvestad
Amateur ultrarunner, Norway
Hello! I'm Stein-Erik Alvestad, an amateur ultrarunner from Norway. On ArcticStride I document my adventures, training sessions and races, and share in-depth reviews of running gear and shoes, while exploring the mental journey that accompanies the physical challenges.
My mission
I started ArcticStride to keep a record of my own running: the races, the training weeks that go to plan and the ones that don't, and the gear I actually use on Norwegian trails. I'm an amateur, not a coach, and the channel is not a highlight reel. If a shoe falls apart after 200 km or a race goes sideways, that ends up in the video too. If it helps you pick better gear or gets you out the door for a long day in the hills, that's the point.
Don't forget to subscribe, and let's stride together: mind, body and spirit.
On the channel
What you'll find here
Race reports
Lofoten, Stranda Fjord and other long days out. What went right, what went wrong, and what I would change next time.
Gear after real distance
Shoes, socks and kit reviewed after a few hundred kilometres, not out of the box. If something fails, you see it.
Training weeks
The build-up to a race, including the weeks where the plan falls apart and I have to adjust.
Norwegian trails
Coast, fjord and mountain routes, from short hill sessions to full-day traverses.
Filmed on the move
Shot with an Insta360 X4 and whatever else fits in the vest, so you get the trail as I saw it.
